Upper resistance for oven, cooker WHIRLPOOL, IGNIS, IKEA WHIRLPOOL, LADEN, BAUKNECHT, INDESIT.

An electric oven with resistors consists of an enclosure surrounded by refractory materials to reduce heat loss. Different resistors ensure the temperature of the cooking appliance rises by transforming part of the energy it receives into heat release through the physical property known as the Joule effect.

There are 3 categories of resistance:

  • The top resistance also called grill resistance: this top resistance is the heating element located on the upper part of an oven. It is used among other things in grill mode, to make toast for example.
  • The sole resistance is located on the lower part of the appliance. It allows in particular good cooking of pie crusts.
  • Finally, the circular resistance: it is located at the bottom of the enclosure of your appliance. It is found in types of oven equipped with the rotating heat mode. This function allows you to cook several dishes at the same time.

If a resistor malfunctions, the heat produced inside the oven will no longer be sufficient. Similarly, the heat diffusion will no longer be ensured correctly. To identify the fault, it is necessary to test each resistor using a measuring device in ohmmeter mode. Check one by one the resistors accessible from the back of your oven.

What signs will indicate that a heating element in the appliance needs to be changed?

  • Your appliance is tripping the electrical panel
  • The appliance does not heat evenly and the dishes are not cooked evenly
  • Dishes take longer to cook,
  • it becomes impossible to brown a dish
  • Your oven operates normally with
