An electrically powered oven with resistors consists of a cavity framed by refractory metal walls to reduce heat loss. Up to 3 resistors ensure the temperature rise of the cooking appliance by transforming part of the energy it receives into heat release by the physical property called Joule's law.

There are 3 types of resistance:

  • The grill element also called the top element: this top element is the heating element located at the top of the oven. It is used in particular in grill mode, to brown a dish for example.
  • The sole resistance is located on the lower part of the appliance. It guarantees, for example, good cooking of tart bases.
  • Finally, the circular resistance: it is located at the bottom of the cavity of the household appliance. It is found in the types of appliances equipped with the rotating heat mode. This function promotes the simultaneous cooking of dishes.

When a resistor is faulty, the heat produced in the oven decreases. In the same way, the diffusion of heat will no longer be ensured correctly. To identify the fault, it is time to test each of the resistors using a measuring device set to ohmmeter mode. Check each heating element located at the back of your oven.

What symptoms will indicate that there is resistance in the device?
